The pH Lab

Choose a liquid, dip your strip, read the color, and record your findings. This is the same experiment MiLab students run in class.

Step 1

Choose a liquid to test

What is pH? The pH scale measures how acidic or basic a liquid is. It runs from 0 (most acidic) to 14 (most basic). Pure water sits right in the middle at 7 — perfectly neutral.

Step 2

Dip your strip

Select a liquid to start your experiment.

Step 3

Read the color & guess the pH

Dip your strip first, then compare its color to the chart below and click your best guess.

Real scientists record everything. In your MiLab sessions, you'll use a physical lab notebook. Writing down your observations — including when results surprise you — is what separates a scientist from a guesser.

MiLab's Power of Hydrogen program runs this experiment and more over 8 hands-on weekly sessions, in small cohorts of 6. Let us know you're interested.
